How it works

Every film, ranked head to head.

Blind votes

You see two posters, titles and years — no Elo, rank, record or crowd split until after you pick, so the ratings can't anchor your choice. Haven't seen one? Say so, or skip. Neither moves anything.

Elo

Every film starts at 1500. Each vote is a game: beat a stronger film and you gain more. New films play 10 placement votes against the whole ladder before getting a rating. After that, the K-factor (how far one vote moves a film) shrinks as a film plays more: 40 while new, 24 once ranked at 40 votes, 16 once established at 150.

E_A  = 1 / (1 + 10^((R_B − R_A) / 400))
R_A' = R_A + K × (S_A − E_A)

Fair play

Every vote is tied to a one-time matchup token. Votes faster than a blink, bursts, and repeated votes on the same film don't count. New voters count at reduced weight that grows with tenure. Because every vote is stored, ratings can be recomputed from scratch if a brigade gets through.
